Boxing legend and former champion Carlos Ortiz of Puerto Rico has a lot of respect for Manny Pacquiao and the Filipino boxing fans. Ortiz fought and won two legendary battles against the fighter who Pacquiao and many Filipino boxers idolize, Flash Elorde. Ortiz stopped Elorde in round 14 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Metro Manila, Philippines in 1964. A rematch took place in 1966 at New York's Madison Square Garden and this time Ortiz would once again get a knockout win in round 14. [details]

Well Cotto has KO'd every southpaw he's fought..so I'm sure he knows how to fight them..
he's also faced fast and powerful guys..maybe not as fast but definitely more powerful..so Pacquiao is really gonna have to rely on his speed for this one..Comment

on fight night, carlos ortiz will know pacquiao is better than flash elorde, sugar ray leonard, armstrong, and roberto duran.Comment

the champ has kind words and praises on the character of the filipino people.
he must have been emotionally touched by the kind of treatment the filipinos bestoyed on him, even though he crushed their very boxing idol in their own land.
pachaters must realize that the filipinos are magnanimous even in defeat.Comment
