  • Cotto Discusses Pacquiao, Margarito, Mayweather

BOB ARUM: We’re really getting close to the fight. Todd duBoef told me yesterday it really feels like this week is fight week and I know that Manny and Miguel would just as soon have it this week. Both guys are fit and ready to go. Miguel worked out in LA on Tuesday and in a Las Vegas gym for some writers on Monday and believe me, he is fit and ready. We have Miguel on the phone, the welterweight champion of the world, who will be able to tell you how his preparations have been going. [details]

When the interviewer asked Cotto about a fight with Floyd Mayweather, it was an okay answer I guess. But I wish he would be more assertive about it.

Cotto is obviously a bit pissed.

It's going to be such a great fight man it's hard to wait.

I agree. I think that he needs to understand the business of it a little more. I mean why talk about yourself in the third person, but then don't really try to build the fight up anymore. He's a very good fighter, but he's too much of a workman. The hype is for the fans. They need to hear that to pay $50 in this economy.

Mayweather will have issues with anyone who can push him and not let him set up. You don't fight a boxer like Floyd straight up let alone Floyd has fought soft WWs since he'd been in the division. Its an intriguing fight between him and Mosley and Cotto.

I'd slightly favor Floyd over Cotto, but I also wouldn't be bug eyed if he lost. Cotto doesnt get credit for the subtle but effective things he does in the ring.

LOL come on man, a guy at the level of Cotto knows more about the business than anyone on this forum. If he chooses not to talk fully about Floyd, so be it...Floyd's not exactly jumping through hoops to fight him either.

A Cotto win over Pacquiao gives more purpose for that fight to finally happen. That's what promoters get paid for.

Cotto should beat Pac and target the SSM-Berto winner. He ain't gettin Mr boat buyer. If he loses a close UD, go for a rematch wit Pac. If he gets KO'd and/or owned thoroughly, take a safe rebound fight, then rematch Marg.

Cotto will have to move up in weight here pretty soon if what some people are saying is true about him being drained.
