You guys are not understanding the scenario the TS is making. He is not saying Pac is cherrypicking Cotto.

What he is saying is that HBO is implyig that Cotto is not so dangerous. And, if non boxing fans. Who really don't know the truth about this match up. Might think that Cotto is not a threat.

exactly. Some guys are quick to go on the offensive, but really though he doesn't seem that dangerous from watching the 24/7. Is he? Of course he is, but i'm not getting that from the show.

well he changed his post significantly since I read it..but

to a casual fan, I imagine they see the size/build difference, because its fairly obvious.. and the trouble in Manny's camp..distraction of his movie and other celebrity outings... I also find it interesting 24/7 focused solely on Cotto in the end of episode 3, showcasing the man a bit as he rode around LV. Usually, they do a montage of both at the end.

The casual fan may not be as impressed with Cotto as with...say... Mayweather, but that's more a personality thing

That's why HBO needs experts on like the countdown shows. All they need is Max Kellerman to say something like, this is a guy who's beaten Shane Mosley, who's beaten Joshua Clottey, who'es beaten Carlos Quintana. To underestimate one of the top fighters in the sport for the last 5 years with one blip on his record would be truly criminal on Pacquiao's part.

Bert Sugar - "What Pacquiao is doing is unbelievable. Never has a fighter since Hank Armstrong ran through as many divisions as this guy. For him to win a title in a 7th division, something no one has ever done, not even the great Sugar Ray Leanord would be remarkable."

That is soooo much more important than Pacquiao making a Super hero movie or footage of Cotto hitting mitts again.

Pac has always fought though fighters, occasionally taking a big fight he was sure to win (Morales 3) when there was a strong interest. I think JMMs crushing loss to Mayweather might have lessened interest in the fight a *little*, but I think most fans would love to see them in the ring again before retirement.

In my Opinion Cotto is the top Welterweight.
I don't think Cotto is THE top welter, that remains to be proved between himself Mosley (i know he got the decision but don't think he could do it again on any night), Mayweather, Clottey's there, hell a returning, focused, Margarito even gets consideration providing that he wasn't using illegal wraps consistently... The point is that the choice of Cotto is predicated by their promoter, mr. arum who holds all the cards in this event, there's added incentive for team Pacquiao to take the fight that they think Cotto is a little vulnerable due to Pac's speed & Cpttp's style/recent fights. Maybe a better way to phrase the question is whether team Arum/Pacquiao/Cotto thought this fight was the most REWARDING available since Mayweather was fighting Marquez.

Pac can't cherrypick at WW. All 3 of the top WW's should KO him.
