I think that the US is an extremely tolerant country overall, especially places like California and New England. I have never been in Missisippi, but I am sure it is great, if you say so. However, this great country is not without its problems.I am from Mississippi which is the heart of the US South. i havnt in my 20 something years of living here EVER seen someone get kicked out of a restaurant for the color of their skin. Was your friend here before 1960? I go to college with many foreign exchange students who do nothing but praise the south and America on how equally treated they are over here. in matter of fact an Indian engineering student is currently trying to relocate his entire family here because he has been so impressed with the people here.
My friend, a Turkish professor at MIT, was attending a conference in New Orleans in 2001. He went to a restaurant with his Indian girlfriend (his wife now). After they got sited, a black couple entered the restaurant, and the owner of the restaurant told the couple to leave. It turned out that this restaurant was for "whites only". When my friend objected to this treatment of the black couple, he was told by the owner to be quiet because the owner was already doing him a favor by letting him enter with his Indian girlfriend. They of course left the restaurant immediately.
Another friend, a Russian ***ish professor at Harvard, was attending the same conference. He went to another local restaurant and was very surprised to find portraits of the **** SS officers hanging on the wall. He was obviously upset and asked the personnel about the portraits, and the answer was that the people on the portraits were all relatives of the owner.Last edited by Nautilus; 11-08-2009, 07:38 PM.Comment

Ahh New Orleans... haha that explains it. That place is a world of its own. But i get what your saying man. thats why i said in an earlier post directed towards you that we all have our problems. Those two incidents i can assure you are very rare. But Racism in relation to this thread is very relevant.I think that the US is an extremely tolerant country overall, especially places like California and New England. I have never been in Missisippi, but I am sure it is great, if you say so. However, this great country is not without its problems.

I know of no kids in Britain that think hitler was a football coach, and if I did I would suggest they chuck themselves off of the nearest tall building. As for the BNP,they are actually a figure of fun, especially that **** nose Nick Griffin. When I was growing up there was an issue with racism here, but nowadays racism gets treated with the contempt it deserves, and hopefully it stays that way. There are gangs; I am very sad that there are morons in Russia who align themselves with the ****s. I am extremely sad about their existence, especially given that ****s killed 27 million people in the Soviet Union. ****s treated Russians as a sub-human race which was supposed to provide servants to the Germans. However, 99.9% of Russian people are not ****s at all. In fact, almost every family lost family members in the WW II fought against the ****s. To sum it up, I think it is not fair and very wrong to associate Russian people with ****sm.
And just for the record: there are plenty of **** groups in the US and GB; In the US South (New Orleans specifically), you can be kicked out from a restaurant because you are black or Indian (my friend was); there are portraits of **** war heroes on the walls of some of restaurants (another friend saw it), etc.; neo-****st parties like BNP are fully legal in GB and recently gained some prominence; while kids in GB think Hitler was a German soccer coach.....
