..DAVID HAYE Wins Title, Deserves It, And Impresses Me...

Let me just make this clear. The fight did NOT impress me, in and of itself. But what did impress me, was the performance by David Haye.

He went into relatively hostile territory, fought a MUCH bigger guy who had never had been hurt, EVER. He had fought relatively decent opposition and this was Haye's first TRUE fight at Heavyweight against anyone who mattered. And what does he do?

He develops a game plan and he sticks to it. He is the first guy to hurt the biggest Heavyweight champion in history, who had never been hurt before. He showed very impressive defense, mae a decent enough fighter look HORRIBLE and was never in any real trouble.

Did he land a boatload of punches? No. But he did land more. Did he RAKE the title away from him? No, but he did do enough to win, especially in the other guys country. Did he make a HUGE splash? Yes and no. NO, not in the style he'd have wanted to. BUT, he did win a version of the title in only a 3 fight campaign. (Two, if you exclude the ONE fight, that he THEN went back down from.)

Also, the shot he hurt Valuev with, signifies that he belongs in this weightclass. That shot would have hurt Klitschko, and I am not talking about just Wladimir, and astonishingly, it was a relatively glansing blow.

IN ways, the fight wasn't incredible. But it had moments, like the 12th round. Also, when you have a giant punching at a guy who was stoppeg at 200 pounds, it's never COMPLETELY boring. Solid day for Heavyweight boxing.

    SIDE NOTES:

Angulo totally destroyed Yorgey. But, damn was it beautiful. Angulo-Cintron II, anyone?

Chad Dawson was very sharp tonight. He didn't really hurt Johnson, but you can now call this the unofficial third CLEAR loss on his record. The other two guys being Tarver and a young Bernard Hopkins.

Pascal-Dawson could really be an interesting fight.

    Funny observation. Worthless, but regardless.....

Anyone else find it funny that Dawson had something on his trunks that said, 'Condom Depot', and it was right by his ass/*******?

    Anyway. Feedback. Or not.
