No. Getting beat up in sparring (and I doubt very much Johnson beat him up) doesn't mean Bute would lose a real fight against Johnson. That's not how it works. History is littered with reports of guys getting owned in sparring by another guy, then when it comes to a real fight, the one who usually hands out the beatdown ends up being the one on the canvas.
Maybe glen johnson was getting beat up by bute and thought he was winning*in sparring, kind of like how dawson was beating johnson and johnson still thought he won in the rematch.
how'd u assess he was getting beaten up?!? by the 30secs of sparring shown in 2nites telecast?
I like Bute but he was a clinching a bit against Andrade in their first match-up. Pressure fighters make Bute fight poorly, or atleast Andrade seemed to be able to break Bute down in the later rounds.
Sparring secessions don't really mean anything, I'm pretty sure Bute would beat Johnson if they actually fought.
Do you give Chad any credit for his win over Glen Johnson? Just curious. Like, do you think there are some fighters at 168 and 175 that would've put up a better fight than Glen did?
