Haye did well defensively, but just didn't throw enough punches to warrant a decision. Valuev wasn't great at anything, although he did press the action. I watched it in very bad quality, but a draw seemed to be the logical outcome. To Haye's credit, he did hurt Valuev in the 12th, but it came too late.
Just not a great fight. I'm disappointed in Haye. I thought he'd show more. It shows that he's reasonable at heavyweight, but reasonable is not good enough. Haye was just too gun-shy. I don't think it shows that Haye is a fraud, as he showed skill defensively and showed he had power, but it does show us that he lacks confidence in his ability to take a punch - probably not surprising. Not enough was thrown by Haye - that's the bottom line. I can't sit here and say a guy has no gonads because he didn't throw many punches against a seven foot tall man who weighed over 300lbs, but in the context of what Haye said he'd do - it just wasn't enough.
David would be beaten by the Kllitschkos if he fought like that. True, some of those shots may well have hurt Wladimir, but there was no intensity there.
David needs to improve.
