A lot of boxers try to fight at as low a weight class as possible. Both Eubank and Calzaghe were natural cws and Hopkins was a natural lhw. I personally would be in favor of bringing back the same day weigh in rule, but that will never happen now.

We are going to have to disagree on the Hopkins/Calzaghe outcome, which was a messy fight. No way should Hopkins of been allowed to get away with so much clinching and headbutting.

As for a Ottke/Calzaghe match, I read (on this site) that Ottke wasn't interested.

I don't remember Calzaghe hitting him low on purpose, when he did hit him low it was at worst around the belly button. Hopkins should of got an award for the acting though, top stuff.

From what I remember, didn't Ottke get a lot of dubious decisions in Germany? The only fight of his I saw was the Reid fight and that at best was a joke. Reid got a warning for punching Ottke and constant warnings for headbutts, when it was Ottke that was causing them by charging in headfirst to clinch.

Jones has the far superior record (Toney, Griffin, Hill, McCallum, (Hopkins himself), Ruiz). He also moved up (and through) twice as many weights as Hopkins.

i would just add to your nitpicking off hopkins record and add about the so called p4p king of the 90's toney was dead at the weight...ruiz is universally recognized as 1 of the worst heavyweight champions in years...mcCallum was 40years old wasnt he.

to say jones is better because he moved up more divisions is also rubbish...hopkins beat every single middleweight contender/champion of his era and then when you say the bigger fighters he fought he lost to...its upto you whether you think taylor deserved both decisions...but calzaghe DID NOT deserve the decision at all...what about tarver pavlik they werent smaller
