  • Peter Manfredo Talks Recent Win, Run at Middleweight

Former Contender series start Peter Manfredo Jr. (33-6) talks to BoxingScene.com about last night's first round shellacking of Ronald Weaver in Maryland. Manfredo plans on campaigning at middleweight with fighters he feels for the most part are his own size. See what else the Pride of Providence has to say in this BoxingScene.com exclusive interview. Manfredo gets knocked so much, mostly for being on The Contender. if he wasn't on that show everyone would say "I wish this kid could just get over the hump". But he is right, he was thrown to the wolves with Clazaghe but how could you urn down that opportunity.

Manfredo is in a strange place. He is too good to be fighting journeymen. But can he be good enough, mentally, to be a champion? He still has a lot to learn but the mold is there. He is a boxer, he is not a puncher like Arthur Abraham. But he an fight and I hope he does well.

I like Peter, as he is from about 15 minutes from my hometown. Middleweight is where he belongs.

Middleweight has a limit of 160.

              He fought at 166.

How was this, or is he, a middleweight?

I think Manfredo can definitely become a champ at 160.
He can win a decision against Sylvester (but not in Germany) and maybe even beat Sturm (if Gevor did, why can't Manfredo?).

I don't expect anything much from Manfredo, he is pretty average really.
