    I don't get it. Why do heavyweights WEIGH IN?

    Its pointless. It must only be for the face-off and the press other than that its pointless.

            Weigh in also is exciting for the stare down and hype. Looking how people look pre fight a day or 2 before can make people bet aswell

              They don't have to make a limit but it isn't pointless. It's tradition. Also, don't you want to know how much the fighters weigh? Just because they are heavy weights doesn't mean that we don't need to know what they weigh.

                Exactly, so we can talk about how out of shape or in shape a fighter was and whether that had anything to do with him winning or losing.
