Williams vs Martinez: Both Boxers Comment on The Fight

Los Angeles, CA – What do a pair of fearless world champions do - one who is the most feared fighter and the other most avoided - when no other fighter is willing to get into the ring with them? They fight each other. [details]

I think this is a much more interesting fight than Williams vs. Pavlik. I think Martinez is a very tough fight, he has great ring movement, fast hands, and will deny Williams of the southpaw advantage. I don't know who to pick here, but I can see Martinez getting this one.

Williams is gonna take this one. The only thing that makes me think that he has been thrown off of his game a little bit is having to make the adjustment of switching his training for a conventional fighter to a southpaw fighter. I think that had a lot to do with his loss to Q. And is Williams the most feared fighter in the world? Who has been serious about challenging him besides Sergio Martinez, Sergei Dzinziruk, and James Kirkland. Everybody else from 147-160 won't step up to the plate. Clottey bitched out.

I don't know about bitched out...they could have thrown a little more money his way and he would have been happy to get in the ring with PWill. Unfortunately PWill is not a draw either so I don't know where the money would have come from.

This could be a great fight, and it'd be interesting to see how Williams deals with a tall, slick fighter like Martinez.

The fact that Clottey didn't try to counter with an offer shows me that he just didn't want the fight. That garbage of Williams ducking him needs to be put to rest now.

If the story about Clottey not counteroffering is true (I have read otherwise but who really knows) then I'll give you that. I can see Clottey wanting to fight Berto or Mosley before PWill.

You know what's funny? Clottey hadn't even signed the contract for Quintana because he was whining about money and trying to get an extra 50k. That guy talks a much better game then he fights, that's for sure.

On another note, I give Martinez a huge shot to surprise.
