WBC diamond belt, banning Areola, trying to stop fathers to support their sons. WBC is the worst sanctioning body and that says much. WBC should be exiled from boxing.

Would it be possible for Boxingscene to make such a stand to not recognize ALL of these sactioning bodies. THe Ring magazine tried it but it still lets you know who is the fake champ and the fake challenger.

JEJU, South Korea -- The World Boxing Council wants to banish once and for all fathers from working their sons' corners during fights after a study showed it could prove fatal.

Speaking at the WBC's annual convention, council president Jose Sulaiman said the organization already had a rule banning fathers from their sons' corners but that it was being flouted.

The WBC must strictly enforce this law to prevent errors in judgment that could lead to tragedy in the ring, Sulaiman added.

Dr. Paul Wallace, chairman of the WBC's medical advisory board, said that a study in California backed up the WBC's stance.

"The most common factor out of all the fatalities that had happened, was having fathers in the corner," he said of the study. "Now, that's not something that's a medical issue, but it's something that's clearly an association."

Art Pelullo, president of Banner Promotions, said the emotional link between father and son should preclude them working so closely together during a fight.

"A father is not detached enough to make the right decision, because he's looking at what he loves and maybe not seeing what's really going on," Pelullo said.

WBC governor Rex Walker said there was the added danger to fathers living out their own dreams through their sons' fists.

"Too many fathers live through their kid in the ring," Walker said. "They transform from the corner to the kid, and they want to stay in the fight -- but they're not the ones getting hit."

WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto has his father close at hand during his fights, but not in his corner.

"Most of the breakups between a father and son happen in the corner because so many emotions are involved," Berto said. "The father tends to step out of his boundary, getting into 'father mode' instead of 'trainer mode.' You have to be able to separate that."

Sulamain forgot to mention that the WBC won't allow fathers to work in their sons corners UNLESS the WBC can collect a large sanctioning from from the situation, ala Shane/Jack Mosley or Floyd Jr/Floyd Sr. Mayweather. On those occasions they will make an exception. This is just more BS from from the biggest piece of s.....t in boxing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but rumour has it that the WBC had a SMW champion like this a couple of years ago? Part of a pretty successful father/son team? Damn, what was that guy's name again? Joe... something?

These bodies are all becoming laughing stocks... Can we just have The Ring belt instead?

I totally agree. What would be nice is maybe the top 10 respected writers select a champion every month per division and maybe rank to the top 20 per division. More money for boxers and it would make boxing alot more mainstream if the media depicts who is a champ vs Jose.

Show me the list, make me a believer, don't just tell me about it, where is the study? Give me names, dates and everything else you have to offer in order to back up your claims.

                What's next? No UNCLE Roger's?

I understand where the WBC is coming from, this is nothing new about a parent pushing his or her child to the limits and beyond but some fathers make a living from this. How are you going to deny a person to work?

What the hell is going on in Korea that all these strange new ORDERS are being made?

Concentrate more on fixing the judges problems, re educate them. There is nothing more that bothers me in a fight when I hear an announcer sitting ring side say: "I don't know what the judges are looking for."
This should never be an option that a judge can score a fight based on what he likes. This is not a taste test.

Implement the instant replay for questionable rulings.

Allow judges to be interviewed after the fight and set an age limit of no more than 65 yrs. I have seen some judges who are older than Moses.

If Ref makes a bad call, he should be brought up before some kind of hearing, review. We need a boxing Internal Affairs.

I guess I would start there and I would not stop until this was well organized.

Again, show me the data you have gathered on the father/son death ratio.

                TY.

I guess the hand wrap scandal should also be something these clowns should assure any one and everyone that it will never happen again.

The WBC may have a cool looking belt for their titlists but the organizations management has gone mad with imaginary power thinking they can tell fighters what they can say in public and and who they can have in their corners.....sounds like some communist **** really.

                      José Sulaimán
                      From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
                      Jump to: navigation, search
This is an Arabic name; the family name is Sulaiman.
José Sulaimán (born May 30, 1931 in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas) is a Mexican boxing official of Lebanese-descent. He is the president/godfather of the World Boxing Council.

Sulaimán is known in the boxing world as an administrator for the WBC for more than three decades. At the age of 16 he was on the boxing commission in San Luis Potosí. In 1968 he joined the World Boxing Council (WBC) and on December 5, 1975 was unanimously elected president of the WBC and has remained just that until today. His shrewd management allowed the WBC to become just as powerful as the original sanctioning body World Boxing Association. Among changes proposed by him are reduction of world championship bouts from 15 rounds to 12, the official weigh-in 24 hours prior to each bout, the creation of intermediate weight divisions, creation of the World Medical Congress, introduction of the attached thumb glove and funding of brain injury research programs at UCLA.[1]

Critics accuse him to have made changes like the extra divisions to make more money from sanctioning fees and reduced rounds to accommodate television. He is also known to be very close to promoter Don King; many King fighters are placed highly in his ratings. The Ring Magazine has thus called him "a swell guy to have lunch with but you better count the silver afterwards". He was introduced into the International Boxing Hall of Fame on June 10, 2006[2].

Sulaimán speaks Spanish, English, Arabic, Italian, Portuguese and French.

He also operates a medical supply company in Mexico.

So in other words He is the one that helps ruin boxing.
