    Pacquiao: Catch weight King?

He is most definitely not a catch weight king.

Why is Manny Pacquiao being called the catch weight king. If:

1.] This bout against Miguel Cotto is his very first catch weight fight that was called up by his team. He had to go up one division higher from JWW.

2.] He had to gain 5 pounds while Miguel Cotto only has to lose 2 pounds off his natural weight.

3.] De La Hoya's idea of fighting Manny was absurd. He only had to drop to 1 weight division from where he was. It was all De La Hoya's idea to fight a smaller Manny Pacquiao who came from 2 divisions lower (130), wherein he could have fought Miguel Cotto instead.

4.] Floyd also fought JMM at 144 supposedly, but he came in more than the weight asked of him.

5.] Boxing has weight divisions for a reason. This fight was only dreamt off on the fantasy leagues and people were calling it impossible before the De La Hoya vs Pac bout.

6.] Miguel Cotto has fought at 147 for a very long time wherein this is the first time Pacquiao will fight a true Welterweight.

I agree about the De La Hoya situation. Manny wasn't scared to fight someone way much bigger than him. Sure De La Hoya came weight drain, but he overdid his training. That wasn't Manny's fault.

Nobody really picked Manny to win, but Manny took the fight despite the risk. So someone that's willing to fight bigger man is better than someone picking to fight someone smaller than himself.

Why don't we just drop weight-drained and catch weight as ways to downgrade a fighter's achievement?

In my point of view, training in itself is already part of the fight and if you get weight drained by not training earlier, properly, or training how you should be training to lose weight, then it shouldn't be the winner's fault.

          A win is a win.
