Why Was Roy Jones Jr. Never a Huge PPV Draw?

I know he brought in numbers, but not DLH numbers... Not over 1 million buy numbers.. Why is this.. Jones was always really popular right? Really exciting, and entertaining to watch, IMO.

kinda isolated himself in a way.

Plus not many people wanted to pay $50 to watch him beat up old cab drivers

because he rarely in the ring with a threatning foe..true he was exciting..but it takes 2 to sell a fight..oscar got big numbers because he fought threats

Does anyone know if the B-Hop VS Jones fight coming up will be on HBO or HBO PPV? If it happens that is.

He never had the right opponent on this side of the Atlantic. The one head scratcher is the James Toney fight - it's a fight that everyone wanted to see, featuring two top P4P fighters in the heart of their prime... yet was lukewarm in attendance and in terms of PPV sales.

The PPV part is slightly understandable - the fight took place during the black box era, when it was so much easier to steal cable/PPVs. But the lack of interest surrounding that fight never sat right with me.

if it's HBO PPV, it's gonna do about 150K buys. absolute travesty if that's the case.
