Super middleweights Dimitri Sartison, WBA # 2, and Stepjan Bozic, # WBA 3 and WBA I/C champ, clash for the vacant "regular" WBA title on November 28 in Oberhausen. Mikkel Kessler? Well, he´s now WBA "super champion". Sartison was previously booked to fight Mads Larsen for the vacant EBU title on January 16 in Aarhus but that must be off now and the EBU, Palm Promotions and Larsen have to look for another challenger. Mads Larsen must feel like a fool now.
He jumped ship with Sauerland, and dumped an IBF title shot at Bute in Larsens hometown early this year, because Team Palle promised him a shot at Mikkel Kessler. Of course, Kessler had other and bigger plans.
Having reunited with Team Palle, who once robbed him of a title shot at Manny Siaca, giving it to Kessler instead, he thought that he was doing the smart thing by facing Sartison in an attempt to be promoted to WBA mandatory, forcing a fight with Kessler that way - and with Palm as the front man, acting on behalf of Team Palle, because no tv-people want to deal with them.
Now both Universum/Sartison and Sauerland/Kessler have outmaneuvered him, and he is nowhere near a shot at Kessler. Actually he is in the middle of nowhere at the age of 36.
At this moment I don't think there will be a Mads Larsen fight of any kind on January 16. Palle/Palm was only interested in the Kessler fight, and I don't think they will invest in Larsen just to make him a European champion. Not without tv-money, and they don't have that at the moment.Last edited by Bogs; 11-02-2009, 11:54 AM.Comment

In retrospect there's no question that Larsen has played his cards real awful I agree. Hell even when he turned down the Bute fight it didn't look pretty. Poor Mads. Such a big talent that never came to fruition.Mads Larsen must feel like a fool now.

And how the heck the WBA can promote Kessler to super champ without him having won another belt is beyond me. By (their) rules a superchamp is a champ that holds another 'major' belt while at the same time having the WBA strap like Kessler when he as WBA champion KO'ed Beyer for the WBC belt. It seems like you need a Phd. in 'Alphabet Logic' to be able to explain how this mess is right.Comment
