Neither fighter actually NEEDS the other one. They are the two biggest personalities in boxing. They can both go their own way, take the larger cut against lesser opponents, and do decent numbers on their own. Everybody is aware of this.
Each guy represents to the other a chance to immortalize himself, and the biggest paycheck he can earn at the moment. So, in that sense, they both need each other.

While Floyd treated boxing like a circus act and performed magic tricks against non-welters who posed no real threat to him, Cotto fought everybody who is anybody in the welterweight division, including guys who should be fighting at 154.

Cotto would be the harder fight for mayweather IMO...He is bigger than Floyd and is pretty solid technically...I think Floyd would blow Pac out...maybe even KO him...I'm not a fan of Mayweather but he is the best technician and defense fighter out there right now...and Pac would have fits with Floyd's defense and speed, not to mention the fact that Floyd would be the bigger fighter (not by much though)...Pac's speed would give Mayweather trouble for the first few rounds...but after that I see Mayweather countering Pac and piling up points...Even though I think Mayweather would win (and I don't think it would even be close) it would probably be one of Mayweather's more entertaining fights since Pacquiao would force him to actually fight...It could actually bring out the best in Floyd.

That said, I think Floyd would beat Cotto too...As much as I dislike him, Mayweather's skillset is amazing, he always comes in in top form, and he always has the option of fighting off the back foot and pot-shoting (which I hate but it is effective)...

some body can tell me the wolrd champions won by pacquiao. The hype says 6 already, but in boxing rec there only evidence of just 4:

WBC flyweight title
IBF super bantamweight title
WBC International super featherweight title
WBC lightweight title

am talking about real world belts, dont crap belts like ibo, wbf , wcc , wwf or wwe.

Both of them do not need each other, fuc them though Boxing needs them to collide if Pac gets past Cotto ( which he may not ) but Im 100% if this fight were to ever happen aside from the historic PPV numbers it would be a snoozer because Floyd is smart as fuc and would not engage. how can so called boxing fans know Shane Mosley was using steroids and justify that? since when is it ok for a fighter to cheat? if Floyd was on steroids they would want him banned for life but its ok for Shane Mosley
