I don't understand what you say about 'other options'? What other options are there?

Your Pryor comment is bad and probably stems from HBO's legendary nghts that skewed the situation. Leonard perhaps lowballed Pryor, but that's all. Make a thread if you need more info or perhaps ask Threadstealer. A fav topic of his.
What about Leonard taking the Hagler fight when it suited him most, when he saw Hagler was about to retire and didnt look good in his previous fight. Hagler had been wanting to fight Leonard for years before that.

          .
          Bigger fights than Floyd-Shane:

          Floyd-Oscar
          Floyd-Ricky
          Floyd-Manny
          Floyd-JuanMan
          Floyd-Miguel.

That is what I mean by "options".

Each of those other guys has demonstrated the ability to carry a crowd or fill an arena. It also engages different demographic groups.

                I agree.

But you can't call a boxer "a coward" when you know that you yourself get a bit nervous when a guy stares you down in a bar.

Floyd's career follows a similar arc to Leonard's although Leonard's is more impressive.
But that's just not true at all. Leonard only began to be 'pickish' after the Hagler fight where he could have fought Hill and Nunn instead of Lalonde and Duran.

Saying that he fought Hagler only because Hagler lost a step is not true. Leonard had an eyeinjury (detached retina) that prevented him from taking the fight sooner. Besides Leonard didn't force Hagler to fight at a catchweight.... Add also that Leonard was a heavy underdog and that he was going up against the monsterman, a top 3 all-time middleweight, while Leonard himself was a 154 lb'er at most.

But which of these are relevant as Floyds next opponent?
