I don't think there should be...I think there was a law in Venezuela that required their boxers to retire by 40, until they changed it so Leo Gamez could continue to box. I think they should be allowed to box on as long as it is their own decision to do so.

I would say a guideline such as "If a fighter over the age of 40 loses 3 bouts by KO within a 1 year period they have their license revoked" might make more sense.

IF there is, the age seems to be the most logical criteria. Maybe 50. Medical proof of a brain injury, well, Valero's a good example.

For example (RIP Gatti), Gatti vs. Gomez. Mandatory retirement for Gatti right there.

            How about having 20 losses?

Dunno about mandatory retirement, but there should damned sure be a retirement plan. All these sanctioning bodies, collecting millions in fees, they need to start handing out checks to guys who have fought for a number of years and then retire. I'm sick to death of hearing about old fighters who are living in squalor because they're broke, after giving everthing they had to the sport.

Only if there is medical proof of a brain injury

They way you word that leaves things way too open to speculation. A brain "injury" is incurred every time a fighter gets knocked out, or even badly hurt by a punch.

I think what you meant, was "medical evidence of brain damage" of one sort or another, such as a hemmorage.

It has always been my belief is that the boxing commisions should be able to rule out this question. They should be able to decide through their medical evaluations of fighters if they are still fit to box. I think a cap on age would force some guys out that can still fight. Plus i cant deny a guy a paycheck if hes willing to put up his own health on the line.
