Wither this is true or not is a different story? Benn wasn't one to duck opponents.

This Yank always gave Nigel his just due.

He's undoubtedly my favorite British fighter of all-time. Even in defeat, his first fight w/ Eubank (which I had the pleasure of attending while on four-day pass during my stint in the military) not only converted me from casual fan to hardcore junkie, but also motivated me to give the sport a try.

Cliff mentioned it in his HOF article, but Benn and Eubank's omission from the HOF ballot is a serious oversight. Benn's name is the first I bring up whenever anyone lobbies for Gatti's "deserving" immediate entrance - Gatti was a huge regional draw, but Benn was every bit as exciting, every bit as popular in the UK as Gatti was in NY/NJ area and Canada, and also boasts better career-defining wins.

I hated that he ended the career the way he did (esp. since I was never a big Steve Collins fan), but it hardly erases the level of excitement he brought throughout the first half of the 90's.

well you mentioned how he had a china chin and its not like he has a great chin himself. ko'd twice in his prime and roy jones ko'd zero times in his prime. roy jones is allowed to hit benn as well you know. this isn't mclellan-benn where the ref won't let him punch.

yea eubank was so great. why would i like a guy who gets gift decision after gift decision? just cause hes american its ok? or cause he had exciting fights with benn and watson early on in his career before he turned to crud? no i think i would have more dignity than to support a fraud like him. you on the other hand......
