But thats how I feel about cotto, the same way you feel about pac and that is why I think these two guys are going to come out swinging in the first round....

If Cotto wanted respect he woulda fought a WW. But Cotto wanted $12 million+. Can't blame him either.

Maybe only you wont be giving Cotto credit. But the Majority of the boxing world and casual fans will know that Cotto beat a beast of a fighter. Pac is not too small for Cotto. Although that would be a perfect excuse for a loss. I am telling you right now Pac will be a beast.

I'd give floyd credit for just getting the balls to fight a top welterweight like Cotto/Pac winner or Mosely. He don't even need to fight em just have the balls.

Depends how he beats him.

If he blows him out then it'll have the majority thinking Pacquiao never belonged at WW and Cotto just beat a guy who had only 3 fights above SFW. If it's a war, then fans would criticize Cotto for getting into a life-death battle with a fighter who only has 3 fights above SFW.

It's a lose-lose situation for Cotto. The only win for him is that he will be $6Million dollars richer regardless if he wins or loses. But if he wins he can possibly fight Mayweather for even more than $6Mill. If he loses then say good-bye to his bandwagoning fans that will give up on him an dlook for another PR star.

Manny in the other hand, it's a win-win situation for him. He's getting $10Mill for this fight, If he beats Cotto he'll be looked at as a god by the media, he'll have a possible $15-$20Mill pay check vs Mayweather, He'll be champion in 7 weight classes, and he would climb up a few spots in the ATG list while cementing his P4P status as #1, and also have another Fighter Of the Year Award(possibly). If Manny loses, he lost to a legit WW that was bigger than him, he only has 3 fights above SFW, he still gets his $10Mill, and something even more important, his fans will most likely not jump ships and they will back him up until he decides to retire.

VERY few, if any, Pacquiao fanatics will give Cotto his due. Obviously Cotto fans will give Cotto his accolades.

If Pacquiao wins, depending on his win, I will give him his due.

I believe and pray that Cotto will win. I think he has put in his time and should reap some of the rewards now.

What? Cotto already gets as much respect as any other fighter. He fights the toughest dudes and wins. You can point out Many reasons not to respect other fighters who cherry pick opponents or used steroids or even plaster to win.

Cotto doesn't need to beat Manny to gain people respect. Do you believe it takes just one win over a top fighter to gain respect? Anyone can have a lucky night, respect its not something you can win over night its earned when you continue to fight and beat the best. You can beat a number of big names, but if they' aren't in their prime or close to it's worthless.
