tomorrow marks the 35th anniversary of the Rumble in the Jungle

just a wee note to say that its 35 years since the historic event that took place on 30 October 1974, in the Mai 20 Stadium in Kinshasa, Zaire (now ********ic Republic of the Congo).

perhaps a wee thread dedicated to such a great fight.

can anyone embed any youtube clips?

That's how long it was? Damn, I'm getting old. Ali invented the phrase "rope a dope" and it worked like a dope..

One of my favorite fights. The legend of Ali grew so much on that night.

I thought George would stop him silly, Boy, was I wrong. The foreman that made smokin' flyin in the air helped by his folding knee, no way can Ali beat that. But Ali proved many boxing experts wrong.

I read that Foreman's team actually prayed they wouldn't kill Ali.

Who wouldn't. That foreman was the real deal after he knocked out frazier but Ali knew something even his team doesn't know and he showed the world his boxing genius by becoming the first man to become the two time heavyweight champion of the world at the expense of fearsome George Foreman.

This is the fight where Ali showed his granite chin, I mean how many brutal punches landed on his chin? but he just brushed them aside and made foreman punched himself out before knocking him out at the closing seconds of the eight round.
