Both are Hall of Famers but not ATG...so I would say they are about equal. Their differences are not miles apart. Although Mosley had the better competition...he lost to the majority of them. Mosley Dominated Lightweight but not as dominant as Kostya did at 140.

But would you favor anybody that Kostya fought at 140 over Mosley?

Tszyu still lost to Phillips by KO and never had the rematch. Not sure on the story behind that though as far as him wanting it or not.

And maybe it can't be held against him but some people make a point: Mosley stepped up to the competition. Tszyu had a chance when the WW division was loaded with talent like Oscar, Shane, Tito, Forrest....

One big knock on Shane for me is not that he lost to Forrest or even Winky (since Winky was a JrMW)...but the Balco scandal.
i think kostya was 2 dangerous for his own good, the huge names ignored him and some even skipped 140 altogether-he wasnt as marketable as guys like dlh or mosley and maybe that harmed his legacy
he should have stepped up in weight maybe but he was pretty much the perfect light-welter and he owned the division
the balco scandal is always at the back of your mind when assessing mosley i find, which is a shame, but it is what it is

Eh...you saved me some time. Got knocked back while trying to add to my post.

          Who skipped him???

I thought it went like this:

Oscar was set to face Kostya but Kostya lost to Phillips...so Oscar moved on.
Shane said the weight was killing him at 135 and 5 pounds wasn't going to be enough, plus he (like everybody else), wanted O$car so WW was Gold.

Point again with Tszyu: He could have moved up to 147 and made tons of money against big name fighters at 147 and set a greater legacy if he won...but he was set on getting back the JrWW title...which it's hard to blame him. He may have had to do it just to get the prestige back to even fight the big name guys in the sport...not sure.

Another thing that made it difficult for Tszyu to fight certain fighters is fighting on Showtime instead of HBO which may or may not have been his fault. Money tends to dictate where you go but big fights will help make you that money.

tsyzu performed badly against phillips, and i think you proved in your post how different career his would have been had he beat him, still surprised he never avenged that loss
i think the bolded parts show each guys different motivation-and both are good reasons for doing what they did
out of curiosity how do you think tsyzu would have done against oscar at 140?
