It does hurt the sport. Why? because doing so means the loss of potential mega fights. Think about the other examples. Because of certain attitudes the boxing world missed out on:

Floyd not fighting doesn't hurt the sport. It is a baseline. Floyd fighting increases the volume.

in any measurement, there needs to be a baseline. You are making the baseline as Floyd in mega-fights, and if you take away those mega-fights it hurts the sport.

Can't do that.

The baseline is Floyd not fighting. Look at the avidity metrics as evidence.
