If Cus D'Amato doesn't die in the 80's, Mike Tyson goes undefeated.

You ever thought of being a comedian? Cuz' sarcasm on internet message boards is such a rare commodity.

You really cash in now before others start doing it.

Mike Tyson would have still lost to someone. His height/size would have eventually been a disadvantage.

Tyson won the world title after Cus died, he had hardly any fights when Cus died, so how can you say that?

This is the biggest misconception in boxing. Some commentator made the connection like 15 years ago and now boxing fans all bring this up. Fact is Cus died in Tysons first year as a pro. So its not like Cus disappeared and Tyson fell apart. Tyson didnt become WBC champion until a year after Cus died. So on that level it doesnt make sense.

One reason Tyson wouldnt be undefeated is that he had huge flaws. First of all Tyson was small and reigned at the time just before the Super Heavyweights began to emerge. His size would have been a problem against someone like Bowe, Lewis, or even Vitali. If Tyson had fought into his late 30's and as you are arguing, avoided the **** charge, he would have no doubt been forced to face those giant heavyweights at sometime and I just dont see him getting through Bowe Lewis and Vitali. Theres no telling what would happen, but also, can you really say Tyson would beat Holyfield? No matter who was his trainer I would be reluctant in picking against Holyfield who I saw beat Tyson twice. Tysons heart never won him a fight. There was never a fight where I said, "I dont know if Tyson is the better fighter, but he wanted it more." No matter how skilled a fighter is, heart and determination have to be factored in. Tyson even under Cus was a supposed head case. I remember Bowe saying that Tyson was known for robbing old ladies and such. So his lack of size, heart, determination as well as having to go through an entire career of facing and beating the best I think would have inevitably led to him having a few losses.

Cus was the only one that Mike really loved and trusted (or so it seems), he would've looked out for Mike. Buster Douglas would've been roadkill for a focused Mike Tyson.
one of the biggest crock of ****e about tyson.

Even when cus was alive tyson was already getting in trouble with the law. He was already accused of **** in school but cus was able to sweep it under the rug.

He was getting in trouble plenty of times well before cus passed away.

I've always thought this, and if you read my sig when I first joined this forum it said exactly that..

Mike was freakishly fast for someone his size and his combinations were thrown with such conviction, i say conviction because this to me was his edge, the man didn't want to fight u, he wanted to kill u and he would do it with fast controlled combinations...
his only achilles heel; his mind, Cus kept this in check so did kevin Rooney, and when he sacked kevin he weren't the same boxer, combinations went out the window and he only went for the head...
You aint never seeing another prime Tyson..

                    Add to that his style.

He needed that youthful energy to explode the way he did when he was at his best. As he got older it would be much harder to throw those kinds of combinations.

He would have to be able to adapt his style with age.
