It is obvious from the Clottey fight that had Cotto not had the heart to fight when the going got tough again he would have quit and had a legit excuse to do so with his eye screwed up. WHO HELL CARES! THe man has a family. He fought his ass off. He had taken ALOT of punishment and had still not been K.O. I'm glad he quit. There is a fine line between courage and sheer foolishness. That battle for him was lost, and he knew it. He took a knee so that he could come back and try to fight the greater war that is his boxing legacy. That's hard to do when you are severly injured.

NOBODY who respects boxing thinks less of Cotto because of that. He is, without a doubt, a boxing warrior. Lesser men would have quit much early (I won't mention the Clottey fight).

I am glad he quit. The only thing his quitting during the Margarito fight confirms is that he's sane.

I've see ppl reference the Margo fight a lot, lets look at it this way, no one can tell if Margo really cheated or not or if loaded gloves made Cotto quit, however, Cotto is getting ready to fight the best fighter in the world in two weeks and Margarito is getting ready to fight Panchito Garcia in the Tijuana auditorium where they give out free tacos. Was it worth quitting? Or should he end up like Vargas?

Cotto quit cause he knew there was nothing he could do to stop Marg from coming, he threw everything at him including the kitchen sink and he just kept coming. I don't think Cotto a quiter, I would have done the same. Would he quit again? If he sees no chance of winning then probably.
