  • Jermain Taylor Is Better Than The Alternatives...

I know a lot of people think it is time for Taylor to call it quits but I for one really hope he sticks this tournament out at least one more fight. He should be able to at least make it the distance against Ward and survive to fight Kessler. A knockout loss to Kessler is almost assured and would be a huge payday and a good spot to call it quits as their is no shame in losing to the Dane..

If Taylor vacates his spot there is no alternative that poses any more of a threat to the remaining challengers. It isn't even up for debate. Anyone who steps in for him (unless it was Bute which wont happen) is going to get embarrassed and lower the quality of the competition.

Allen Green is, and always will be, a ****** ****. He does not deserve a payday at Jermain Taylor's expense and he would get his ass schooled by Ward and get knocked out by Kessler himself.

Why anyone would want Taylor to step aside for any reason other than his own desire to do so is beyond me. He has nothing to be ashamed of and should be allowed to continue with this series without people degrading him as a washed up bum.

Jermain Taylor fought a very respectable fight for 11 rounds 2 min and 50 secs. The performance he put on against Abraham would have been enough to beat Allan Green or Edison Miranda without too much trouble. So why would anyone want other fighters who consistently put on very mediocre performances on the big stage to get a chance to run their mouths and disrespect much more deserving fighters at Taylor's expense?

I just fill sorry for Taylor, and it just hits me hard the way he's getting stopped these days. He seems like a really nice guy too. There's a lot more people in boxing who deserve a brutal KO more then Taylor.

I don't think he's a bum and probably shouldn't fill sorry for him, but i do. I can't help it.

    Respect for Jermain Taylor.

It doesnt matter, JT got hurt and his career is done. He wont be able to continue so Showtime is going to have to decide who that replacement should be. Nobody should just get to walk into his spot. There should be some sort of box off.

Taylor could avid getting stopped by Kessler, Kessler isn't that aggressive.

I remember when Roy got KO'd the second time by G. Johnson and then lost again to Tarver everybody wrote him off as washed up and needing to retire for his health. Granted he is not the RJJ he was in his Prime but he has made a strong come back and only lost to arguably the best man of the Millenium (Calzaghe) while I must add knocking him down early and only getting out boxed after having suffered a severe cut.

I think Taylor can and should come back. Is it smart to come back in this tournament against top flight guys is the real question.

I think he should only comeback if he can get mentally prepared. I don't think Abraham did much until the KO personally...

I definitely think Paul Williams should get in on this. He could establish himself in FOUR different weight classes at the same time! Definitely think he could do some damage in this thing too.

That makes no sense either. The winner of a box off could very well sustain a cut or injury and be on the shelf for months delaying the tournament schedule.

Showtime already has an alternative in place and should Taylor bow out they already know exactly who will step in.

By all accounts it is Allan Green who has never been anywhere close to JT's level. In a tournament of this magnitude I can almost guarantee that Green is written into the contracts because all of the Promoters would have had to agree on an alternate beforehand. That means that any ****** ideas other than just putting Green in might result in a breach of contract suit against Showtime and all parties involved.

Does anyone really want to see this tournament delayed by a judge?

It is possible but if he loses to Ward he will go into the Kessler fight knowing it is likely his last and that the only way for him to advance would be with the bonus point for a KO.

This probably means he'd give Kessler a lot more chances than he would under different circumstances.

He might be better than Green, but what already know what to expect from Taylor and what the most likely outcome will be. Green will bring a fresh face the top scene in the SMW who won't fight timid and really try to mix it up. I can understand if he wants to fight Ward then leave, but that would put the erplacement in a bad spot with just one fight. JT should dropout and fight Victor Oganov in Arkansas...

Could you name an example of at least 1 recent fight where Alan Green didn't fight timid?

Cause he sure did against Miranda, he failed to turn it up and put away Rubin Williams when it was clear he could and he fought very timid in his most recent bout versus Simms.

If he gets into this tourney he will be content to box off his back foot and lose every round to Ward without taking any chances.
