I think that Taylor is good, and has a bright future in boxing (even if it might be at Super Middleweight or above) but that he is not quite ready enough to take that last step. I think the 40 year old Hopkins is still just sharp enough to take him out- especially with that greatly underrated beard that Bernard has... I dont know about training him, but perhaps if Hopkins sticks around Golden Boy for long enough he may end up promoting him someday.

I think Taylor has the potential to beat Hopkins simply because of his style. I'm confident that Jermain has the style it takes, and since styles generally make fights, he can do it. Taylor's jab is the perhaps the best in the business, and he is exceptionally good at controlling people with it.

However, lets say that Hopkins is able to neutralize the jab, which in all honesty is very possible considering William Joppy seemed able to do so. Jermain Taylor was able to adapt and adjust to the situation and task at hand, and defeat Joppy in impressive fashion by using angles, uppercuts, and tight hooks.

If you look at this fight with an open mind, with no bias, you'll see that Taylor has the potential to beat Hopkins, while Hopkins has the potential to defeat Taylor. This one could easily go either way. It all depends on who brings their A+ game.

I enjoy watching both fighters, and am a fan of each, but I'm rooting for Jermain Taylor. I think he's a positive representation of the sport in his humble, respectful ways, and will easily bring positive attention to a much deserving art in boxing.

I am really not quite as sold on Taylor as you all seem to be. I mean, I love how class he is, I love how young he is, and I especially love that ******* jab. But more then that I remember the job that Hopkins has done on fighters who I also respected of late (De La Hoya, Joppy, Tito, Eastman, etc...)

The fight is scheduled for July 16 PPV. Taylor by 9th round TKO.

I doubt it but anything is possible, the safer predictions would probably be Hopkins 11th round TKO or Hopkins UD.

I think Hopkins will keep on running and Taylor chasing him the whole fight.

Hopkins should win the fight, i still think Taylor needs a big fight before he fights Hopkins. Taylor has a lot of potential, but i dont think he'll win against Hopkins. As for Hopkins, i wasn't impressed at all with his fight against Eastman.
