i can't improve on these thoughts on dirrell.
a quote from Top Dog :

"The American public has become enamored with shuck and jive type fighters ever since Mahammad Ali conned the public with dancing and rope a dope. I can remember the crowds cheering as Ali would begin to dance as though this was synonomous with scoring points. If you look at how many times Ali would hold during a fight he would make even Wladimir Klitschko look engaging. At least Klitschko throws punches. This form of holding and running does not go over big in Latin America, Asia, Africa or even Europe. In most countries a fighter like Dirrell would be diqualified out right. Here we delude ourselves by making believe that it is bias when in fact we have created a generation of boxers and the public alike who feel entitled to a win just because they threw some dazzling combinations even if they don’t land solid. A guy that turns his head up close in such a way that the only exposed part of his cranium is the back or side of his head and then expects you not to take the shot while he sets up to knock your head off is playing a con that only people raised in America are ****** enough to believe. The reason Froch did not have a mark on his face is because he was hardly hit himself because Dirrel was also missing most of his shots. The only bias is in those who are outraged in somehow not seeing that this is supposed to be a world title fight with a challenger totally disinterested in engaging. Thank goodness the judges were not completely fooled and the rightful winner retained his title. I can’t help but think that a whole generation raised in a culture of public entitlements has been brain washed into thinking that by merely claiming victom hood, and complaining even to the referee, some how should automatically earn them their entitled victory. What I am unequivically saying is that a nation of cry baby receivers with a demand for entitlement for free money and services some how loses a certain sense of manhood and toughness and responsibility and this eventually begins to show itself in boxing and it is no accident that many American boxers raised in this generation have forfeited their dominance to men of other nations even if they have all the natural talent in the world.

I guess Shaw doesn't have a reason to be too upset and he doesn't want to distract his fighter from the task at hand by harping about the past too much himself.

The bottom line is that Dirrell controls his own destiny. With a win over Abraham he is right back in the mix and should he meet Froch again in the semi-finals he will kick his ass having seen what a bum he truly is......
