What happened exactly between McCallum and Steward??

I know they had a falling out and Hearns was involved. I listened to McCallum talk about it, but couldn't make that much of it due to his accent and kinda poor sound quality.

Steward signed the Hearns-Duran fight behind McCallum's back when McCallum was Duran's mandatory. Manny insists it was because Duran would have vacated the title anyway had he been forced to fight the relatively unknown McCallum and that it was better to have the Hearns-Duran fight be a title unification.

    McCallum didn't buy it.

I can see why he left. And Hearns didn't want to fight him either. Or Manny wouldn't let him maybe.

I don't remember 100%, but what I can recall is since Steward was both Hearns and McCallum's manager, he manipulated the situation so Hearns fought Roberto Duran for the WBC and not McCallum for the WBA.

I'll do a little background check on that.

Duran probably would have vacated anyway, but Steward being involved in that situation is not a good look.

McCallum could have been an ATG instead of an underrated Hall of Famer if he wasn't with Steward.

McCallum would have worn down and knocked out Hearns and would have had a good action fight beating Duran if he ever got the shot.

I agree. McCallum was the most underrated fighter ever probably. And one of the most talented.
