As much as I want to see PBF-SSM, making Shane wait makes sense.....

Let me first state that I'd love nothing more than to see Floyd fight Cotto, Pac, Mosley and Williams @154 in the coming years.

However, look at the current situation from Floyd's point of view-

If he waits Mosley out and doesn't give him a fight, there's a strong chance Shane will fight Berto. This leads to either (1) Berto beats Mosley taking the shine of him and eliminating him from the equation. (2) Mosley beats Berto, adding the WBC belt to his WBA belt.

    Benefits of Scenario 1:

    - No need to fight Mosley. He's no longer relevant in the super-fight picture after being beaten by a 'green' Berto in his first big step up.

    - Beating Berto now carries the reward of 2 welterweight belts WBC&WBA.

    - Beating Berto takes on the angle of two unbeaten fighters (possibly fighting to unify all the belts, should Mayweather get a W against Pac/Cotto)

    Benefits of Scenario 2:

    - Again, he get's to fight for 2 belts instead of one.

    - The Mosley fight becomes bigger than ever. (The last 2 men standing should Floyd beat the Pac-Cotto winner)

    - Sugar Shane is another year older.

Additional reasons: Why would Floyd risk the biggest pay day available (Pac-Cotto winner) by fighting a hungry Mosley beforehand? Yeah, I know we all want him to take more risks. But every boxer out there makes the best decisions for his career from a business standpoint. It makes more sense to beat the Pac/Cotto winner then Mosley as opposed to ~ Mosley followed by Pac/Cotto after. If Floyd signed up for a fight with Shane straight after fighting JMM, it would be for early 2010 at the earliest, pushing Floyd and Pacman's fight schedules off course. (I use Pacman as an example)

The thing is, if Shane does fight Berto next, then Floyd's next fight has to be against the Cotto-Pacquiao winner. There's really no two ways about it.

It's apparent that people will tune in no matter whom he faces, but as far as maintaining any semblance of credibility, he doesn't exactly have a world of options.

Making a 38 year old Mosley wait makes perfect sense, just like making a 36 year old LW come up two weight classes to fight you, making Hatton come up in weight to fight the #1 p4p and retiring instead of fighting undefeated Miguel Cotto.

I doubt Mayweather will ever fight Mosely at least not anytime soon. Mayweather is focused on the winner of the Pac/Cotto fight. He aint gonna risk that payday by fighting a dangerous Mosely. If he beats the winner of Pac/Cotto I think he will retire again and live off the huge payday.

I agree. Floyd has options. He took a chance agianst JMM not in the ring but financially. If JMM vs FLoyd bombed with no PPV buys, if it didn't sell out Floyd would not be in the driver seat.

Floyd will wait untill Late November to decide does he want to fight The Cotto/Pacquiao winner and he has leverage cuz Shane Mosley is begging him for a fight. Fights I wanna see badly Martinez vs Pwill, Mosley vs Berto, Clottey vs Quintana, Margarito vs Angulo, of course Cotto vs Pacquiao. ANd with desperate Ricky Hatton Available in the UK for Bookoo easy $ PBF has alot of options.

Not at all, I'm a fan of Floyd's skills and he's amusing to watch on 24/7. But I could take him or leave him after that.

The thing is, If Floyd fought Mosley early next year like we all want, Pac(should he win, big if) will go ahead and fight someone else in March, and who knows when that fight could materialise after that due to Pac's election plans, both of them taking a rest time between fights etc.

I just think we should be patient in waiting for this fight to materialise, as anyone else in Floyd's shoes would do the exact same, wait for Pac-Cotto to be decided (if theres talk of a rematch etc) and weigh up the options from there.

If he doesn't take either of those fights...I'll be the first to say **** Floyd..

Mayweather is never going to fight Mosley. Too much has gone down. I would like 2 see Mosley retire - hes got nothing more to prove and not going to get PBF payday.

The longer he waits, the less credibility Mayweather will get.
