  • Will Dirrell Be Too Quick For Abraham?

Im an avid Abraham fan, so let's get that out of the way..

This is my take on it.. I think Abraham's style allows him to sit back and take the punches, let the guys wear themselves down.. I heard a reporter say it's like his version of the rope-a-dope, and I completely agree, but he doesn't seem to get hit as much.

I think the faster the guy, the better it plays out for Abraham. I think Abraham, with his wide looping punches is more susceptible to being beat by a inside fighter, rather then a boxer. I love the guy, but I really just don't see how he hasn't hit the canvas yet. He really does have the jaw of a moose, because Miranda did catch him, and break his jaw.

I think the fight will play out a lot like the Taylor fight did, except I think Dirrell will keep it closer on the cards with his step-in body shots. I think Abraham can't wait as long as he usually does to get aggressive. Dirrell could very well turn it into a jab fest to the body, and win rounds when Abraham is being agressive.

Overall, i think Dirrell will see how tough this guy is, and get a little flustered. I think starting at about the 5th rd, Abraham turns up the heat and batters him a little bit. I have a lot of respect for Dirrell after the Froch fight, so I hope he doen't get knocked out, but I see a ko coming. I truly believe Abraham is on another level then Froch. Froch seems really over hyped to me.

Froch isn't and never has been 'over-hyped'; everybody knows that he is limited including - I suspect - him. He has also, to date, always found a way to win despite that. I think Abraham is a class above as well, likewise Kessler, but I still wouldn't rule out Froch beating either.

I don't think much of Dirrell at all, at least based on the Froch fight. Claims of 'robbery' seemed to have fooled folks into thinking he was much more impressive than he was.. a really gifted fighter with that 'style' (or what is supposed to be one) wouldn't have let Froch win a round. Dirrell throws far too little, runs scared, and won't take necessary risks and hence, a genuine 'robbery' aside, will lose to the superior fighter in Abraham. My guess is a mid fight KO.

Dirrell will be to quick to everyone, he's just the quickest fighter in the whole tourney. We could be better now after that experience against Froch, I agree that Froch is not a big deal but at the same time it's easy to overlook him because he's to much of a slow brawler and doesn't have any defense, but he's good.

Abraham on the other hand has a superior defense than Froch but he doesn't press the action that much, I don't think Dirrell has stamina issues so he won't get tired, the only way Abraham could break him down is pressing more than he use to, Abraham should win but I won't be surprised if Dirrell wins.

theres nobody in the tournement that can beat abraham, he is a beast.
also mikkel is a little overrated and i can see ward winning this fight.

I would think that Abraham is quicker than Froch. (i saw Froch-Dirrel today actually, and i had Froch winning 114-113 would have been a draw if it wasnt for the point deduction) And if Froch can tag him, i dont see why Abraham cant.

So as i see it, Abraham is quicker, and hits harder than Froch (at least has a lot harder one punch KO power) which will make Dirrel have even more respect for AA. I see AA winning this one.

It's not that he's too quick, it's just that Abraham has little mobility and a low workrate. That peek-a-boo stance is not going to work against Dirrell because Dirrell also punches to the body.
