I can see that logic to a degree, assuming he fought for free. It sounds like Cotto is against the idea on the principle of it, which is understandable. He doesn't want Margarito to earn anything off his name. But even with no purse, Margarito would still be in the spotlight if he fought Cotto, rendering him in a much better position to negotiate his following fight so Cotto might still not be willing to fight him because either way it works for Margarito in the long run, win or lose. Why help him rebuild his career?
