He seems to know better than to flat out diss a fighter like he did marquez last time only for him to sell 1 million PPVs.

I'm actually with Dana with this: MMA and Boxing can coexist; it should coexist. It's about fighting; it's about entertainment. No need to bash the other. Boxing is a part of MMA so MMA fighters shouldn't be going around bashing Boxing and Boxers shouldn't be bashing MMA...but for some reason, it does seem like Boxers have more of a problem with MMA than MMA fighters have with boxing. Now with regards to the fan battle, it is about even.
Hopkins disrespected fighters...fighters he can't beat unless he proves he can. Hell, I don't like that side of MMA where fighters are wrestling their opponent to the ground and are on top of each other, but it is effective and it is fighting, and because of that; all fighters should learn every aspect of fighting; because at the end of the day, it is about winning...it is about surviving (like in nature, like in war).
To me, it is all about the mindset you put yourself in to allow a greater understanding of what is happening and what a fight is all about. It's about using every capable weapon at your disposal to win a fight. Both MMA and Boxing are not actual true fights set down by nature but they still can be enjoyed and serve a purpose in understanding fighting.
When you watch MMA, you are watching two fighters agreeing to limit the weapons that can be used in an actual fight (applied in nature), like eye gouging, testicle ripping, biting, etc. in order to showcase abilities learned that will help aid in one's favor to win in such a fight ordained by nature. In Boxing, it is even more limited than MMA to an actual fight (in nature) but showcases skills that can help favor one's chances to win. It showcases the mastery of hand fighting...distance...a certain toughness...understanding...and so on.
Boxing is part of MMA and the MMA fighter most likely stands a better chance in a fight in nature where no rules apply. However, because no rules apply you better be able to dodge a bullet...good luckLast edited by Benny Leonard; 10-24-2009, 02:33 AM.

Boxing just beat UFC 103 in PPV numbers on Sept 13th by a mile and a half, with a card that was "boycotted" by a lot of boxing fans(supposedly) and predicted to flop, now why the hell would boxing take any advice from Dana White?
