He did his best work early in his career but his most recent fights were indeed lacking the the legitimate threat department so criticism is warranted. Stop the perpetual victim hood of poor Floyd who according to his zealous admirers can't get a break. If he fought everyone who everyone wants him to fight, all of whom I think he would beat anyway, he would be one of the most popular champions in the world. I am a boxing fan not a hater or a nutthugger and just find it frustrating that he fails to tap into his immense talent and live up to his potential by fighting the best fighters he could possibly fight.sadly..this is how it goes.
May can pretty much tactically decision or domiinate anyone at this point, with the exception of possibly Pwill... and WILL fight someone good if u give him a few ****ing months...lol
Problem is, that good fighter he fights next will be touted as what was the words the original poster used? ah yes a "real threat" until of course, Floyd beats them convincingly and defangs them with his style
Then its on to the next "real threat", cuz he never fought one apparently.. **** is endlessly circuitous and pointlessComment

Yes, I've heard this argument before...I'm not calling you a hater, but maybe you've allowed yourself to be influenced by their rhetoric..Who knows. You have to take into consideration the "Mayweather effect" that is a result of the backlash of losing to Mayweather. Some people have Mayweather so low in their esteem, that, anyone he beats joins him in that holding tank of low esteem.
You might have a champion, undefeated such as Corralles or Hatton... But once they lose to Mayweather, they all of a sudden lose some of their status, if not all, with your average Mayweather detractor. Not to even mention the several fighters he beat that only had 1 or two losses, I mean they really get trashed. Whereas, before the fight they are built up as "threats". This process is rinsed and repeated over and over.
Let me pose you a hypothetical to see what I mean. What if, instead of Floyd fighting Hatton, he fought Cotto instead? And beat Cotto in a convincing fashion? Well, the "Mayweather effect" would have already diminished the status of Cotto.. And Hatton would be saying Floyd ducked him. And people would be backing his claims. Saying Cotto was this or that (insert downplaying excuse here), and Hatton was the "real threat" all along, provided Hatton hadn't been drubbed by someone else yet, that is..
THe same works for SSM, or anyone, really. Just give one pass of the "Mayweather effect" and they are instantly delegitimized in the eyes of many. Meanwhile, the ones left over are free to say THEY are the threats, and that Floyd has been ducking THEM.
And then people back those claims up... ect , ect..
The major problem is people want to see a competitive fight. They want to see Floyd challenged..otherwise they feel like they were somehow robbed as fight fans. But what if he's just that damned good? What if no one in the WW scene could even truly challenge him, with the possible exception of Pwill? But people refuse to believe this generally, and hence their next logical step is to call Floyd a coward like that shining example of humanity above me..
But don't worry... he will fight someone good next. People are just gnashing their teeth too much and need to chill.Comment
