    I had him beating Micky Ward. Augutus cleary beat Ward in my opinion but it was close.

        I'm reminded of the Jim Lampley story regarding John McEnroe when it comes to Augustus. Lampley says that McEnroe said "I have more talent in one finger than this guy has in his whole body" and Lampley responds "Yeah but do you have the talent to train for four hours a day?"

        Augustus definitely had the skill, but did he have the character? He takes fights on short notice, smokes reefer between fights, signs contracts with a new manager or promoter every week, etc. He just didn't have the internal intangibles to be a top notch fighter.

        Being an excellent gym fighter doesn't equate to having what it takes to be a champion.
