Thats what i dont get, People are sooo quick to throw a book at boxers that miss a fight through injury but injuries are part of us humans. I hope he can heal well and comeback to fight Williams if the opportunity present itself again.

Pavlik tells The Associated Press he doesn't remember being admitted to the hospital last month, but that doctors told him "it was pretty serious. It was the worst form of reaction you could have."

Pavlik had been dealing with a staph infection on his left hand since February.

He was supposed to defend his titles against Paul Williams on Dec. 5 at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall, but the fight was canceled Wednesday when trainer Jack Loew realized Pavlik still could not make a fist with his injured hand.

I don't know, reading this article just makes me even angrier.

All of this happened a month or so ago, if his time table is correct. Yet admist the allergic reaction, nearly dying, and a hand that wasn't close to being healed - he was STILL cleared to fight on December 5?

I don't question that any of this happened. I'm not sure anyone's questioning it. Why fans have turned on him is the fact that the same issue keeps occurring, only for yet another traumatic mystery to be revealed in greatest efforts to atone for his actions (or lack thereof).

I think everyone would be more sympathetic if he was just up front about his ilnesses and injuries. Anything after-the-fact only comes off as excuses, nor does it do anything to fill the potholes he's left behind in this year's boxing schedule.

Boxing is the only Sport in which when an athlete has an injury they get accused of faking it.

When Pavlik pulled out of this fight, there was actually no infection in his hand. He was still healing from the operation process. Just goes to show you what a dumb ass he is by not getting it taken care of sooner.
