Vitali - too NICE to be popular?

Let's face it, heavyweight boxing is pretty much rock bottom at the moment. I LIKE Byrd, but his style is more made for chin-scratching technical appreciation rather than genuine excitement. Ruiz goes without saying.

For me, there was only really two men who made for exciting fights last year - Vitali and Tyson. Whatever you think of these guys, they're rarely dull, are they?

Yet does Vitali ruin things, gate-wise, by being so damn respectful to his opponents? People don't really want someone to see "He iz very gud opponent, yu know?" people want "I think he's ****, I'm going to smash him to bits". Even after watching Danny Williams painfully get battered over eight one-sided rounds, Vitali's still there. "He haz gud chin, big heart". If he'd have gone "I thought he was a Limey blimp and I slapped him around like a rag doll" it'd have made more headlines, surely?

Well Vitali did show some of his mean side when he said those words what will go down in history. "Got any excuses tonight, Roy?"

and "He destroyed my dream of fighting Mike Tyson.."

Actually I think he was facing his brother:

he said: "hey rahman, why is your head so inflamed? got any excuses Tarver?"

then turned around and bit Jay Nady's ear.

Even if he just started off slow and built his way up.

"Rahmans, he is not very gud, u know? I know. U know? I know. His conditions is... um... bad."

Actually, screw that, his English has improved a lot since the Lewis fight, hasn't it?
