I am giving a slight edge to Wilder because he has had a lot more fights, and even though they were B-level and C-level fighters, it isn't different for Joyce, but Wilder had twice as many opponents as Joyce.

There is one interesting thing in your comparison: Joyce won over Parker, who dominated Wilder. But Joyce lost to Chisora, who lost to Wilder (as we know, in boxing 2+2≠4).

so if joyce had beaten a bunch of bums you would give him the edge

Wilder was WBC champ for 5 years and had 10 title defenses. Thats not an easy feat, Joe Joyce hangs his hat on 2 victories over top/ semi top competition, one was a fight he was losing and the other was against an opponent that was more or less his caliber.

Wilder is greater, and prime v prime he would’ve sparked Joe Joyce out.

Yes, because at this point, their top victories are close. So I am comparing them purely on activity, and Wilder has a bit more bums on his record, even though Joyce's are a bit classier. Unfortunately, Joyce didn't have enough good fights when he was younger, while Wilder had plenty against nobodies. And both are late to catch up. I believe they could have done better in their careers, they had the potential.

However, I will not argue the opposite point of view, as it's all on the edge.

Joyce's win over Dubois looks good.

you think beating dubios and parker is close to beating ortiz, stiverne, or 42 year old chisora? those dont seem close at all to me. parker beat ruiz who went on to be #1, zhang who was #3, wilder who was #3, bakole #6. dubios just beat #2 wardley, #3 joshua, and #5 hrgovic. ortiz in comparison has 1 top 10 win over the # 5 guy, stiverne 1 top 10 win over the #7 guy. chisora none offiically but a couple very debatable losses to top 10 fighters.

not sure if it was easy but beating parker and dubois is a hell of a lot harder than what wilder did which was beating a bunch of unranked bums. wilder beat 1 top 10 opponent in all those defenses and someone who is nowhere near as good as dubois or parker. ever heard the phrase quality over quantity? the guys joyce beat in his early career were about as good as wilders defenses, guys like stiverne who was one of wilders best wins and guys like jennings who was ortizs best win but joyce didnt have a belt to label them defenses. the label isnt what matters. the substance is what matters and wilder did not have it. he kept figthing guys like arreola, spilzka, washington, molina, duhapas, etc...

Honestly, this should be Wilder's last fight if he insist on fighting again. They're about the same age and Joyce looked sort of okay against Hrgovic imo.
