So Mbilli doesn't have to fight for a year, but gets to sit on the green belt for nine months. This is exactly what's wrong with boxing. At the very least, he should have fought Martinez in a rematch.

Trolling Pear-Shaped David still won't erase the image of Saul getting slapped around for twelve rounds by a welterweight last September. The imagery is still fresh.

Canelo chose Mbilli because Mbilli is a face first fighter, lacking in defense. Perfect for getting Canelo's next KO. Reminds me of Canelo VS Kirkland.

Yeah, I'm trying to convince myself that Mbilli will have a chance and flip the apple cart. But this might be a rerun of Kirkland. The good thing for Mbilli is this is Canelo who hasn't age well in boxing years.

That is the one single factor that is in favour of Mbilli. Canelo is very long in the tooth and doesn't like to battle for long stretches in the fight, especially now that he older. Someone will eventually wear Canelo down and stop him. Maybe Mbiilli has the size and youth to do it, but he's going to get caught cleanly and regularly in the meantime. It'll be interesting to see what happens. With boxing you can never know for sure.
