Comments Thread For: Heavy volume: The 10 heavyweights with 1,000-plus punches in a fight

Jarrell Miller's 1,003 punches against Lenier Pero put him in 10th place on the list. David Greisman examines the nine other heavyweights who've surpassed 1,000 punches and sit higher than Miller in the record books.

shouldn’t a sharp rise in Miller’s punch output in a short space of time be ringing alarm bells considering he’s been busted twice for PEDS in boxing alone and multiple times in other disciplines prior to that. Joshua will never ever fight him and give him that meal ticket anyway. Don’t understand why any promoter picked him up after that.

And all of them have one thing in common - arm punches, otherwise none of them would pull this off.

And Miller is extremely questionable, his output took a major dip after his PEDs and now it's massively increased again at his big age...

Hey! Those slaps really sting and ruined what would have been Jeff Lacy's ATG career.

I don’t know of any one in history at 168 or 175 that threw or throws punches in bunches like Calzaghe. Perhaps Benavidez comes close.

Not at all, try hitting a bag for a while the difference between throwing arm punches and engaging your hips, core and legs is night and day, particularly for your stamina.

And "Arm punches" aren't derogtoary, they're a good means of opening up someones weak guard and keeping activity high.

But a lot of the heavyweights in this list PRIMARILY rely on arm punches.

Miller is the oddity here, he went from B2B fights with 500 punches a fight to doubling it against Pero.

Quite remarkable considering he's older now and yet appreantlly is able to be more active and he was previously popped for GW1516 and EPO which are specifically for cardiovascular endurance.
