Boxing is messed up. If Teo lost to Delgado he'd lose a lot of earning power. He's just doing what is financially sensible for himself.
Blame this on 2 things 1/ how boxers get treated by promoters once they lose a couple of fights and 2/ the proliferation of belts reducing the allure and financial recompense of being a beltholder
