hmmm no he was terrible. you know i think wilder was an overrated bum basher but he would probably beat briggs. briggs literally has one top 10 win his entire career and that was with literally 1 second to go in a fight he was losing befoer he scored a ko. in fact you could say briggs was the original wilder, a guy who ko'd a lot of bums but always lost when he stepped up. chisora would probably beat briggs too. briggs' power went away against good opponents and he was a terrible boxer with no gas tank. dont get it

This a fair, if he had been managed differently he could have built up a huge record defending a belt against carefully matched opponents and got blasted by Lewis for a bigger payday. Different era though

briggs ko'd a bunch of bums until one of the bums(darrel wilson) ko'd briggs. then he built himself back up ko'ing bums until he got a shot at 50 year old george foreman...and foreman schooled him! george foreman who never had great boxing kills beat him up and easily won the fight and they gifted it to briggs, then briggs fought lewis and was easily beaten. briggs then got a gift draw against botha, lost to sederick fields, lost to jameel big mac mccline, ko'd a bunch of bums and then got a title shot against liakovich which he won with 1 second to go in the fight, and that was his career. not that wilder or chisora were great fighters but briggs beating them would definitely be an upset given his track record

Yes Briggs was the luckiest paper champion in the history of the sport he won a debatable decision over Foreman and considering all of the tight decisions Foreman received it was almost a message to Foreman to retire. He also could have lost the White Wolf fight the referee was in his rights to not allow the knock down of the White Wolf as while he was staggered the ropes gave through with no time left he easily could have ruled the fight over and forced the score cards and Briggs would have lost a wide decision.

Briggs also never cashed out of his title as he lost a wide decision to his mandatory defense Sultan Igbragimov who in turn sold his title to Wlad Klitschko in a boring unification fight at Madison Square Gardens.
