There is a difference between reviewing and investigating. An investigation is needed. Nobody needs to review what took place it was clear as day, they should uncover why he did it.
No matter why he did it they need to make sure he will never be the ref at any big fight. I can understand giving a second chance to Steve Willis he is a solid Ref and did one very big controversial mistake being overwhelmed by the situation which had a huge impact, this should and can't happen but it was one very bad call.

This Bates guy did 4 or 5 calls like this and even worse and all of them favoring the same fighter. It was the worst performance i can remember not only recent times but ever. When i think about all time bad performances most of the time situations like Richard Steele stopping Chavez vs Taylor with 2 seconds left to my mind but almost all of these fights have 1 bad call a decision you have to make on the spot and i can forgive that. Bates knew what he did or he just don't know the rules at all. Anyway he can't be trusted ever again. He is another Pabon when reffing Wladimir and even worse.

And this Smith guy is nuts they did not only stop Chisora from falling out the ring which i would be okay with. They actually lifted him up pushing him back in and even up and this two times. But the most insane call was when Chisora called a time out and the Ref let it happen. Chisora was hurt by something and Wilder was moving in to do some damage and the Ref intervened. Right there the fight should have been over no excuse can be made either he goes in and stops the fight or he stays out of it and lets Wilder throw his shots.

The fight was so messy, I honestly didn't pick up much about the ref which is weird considering he was constantly breaking them up. Maybe that is just it. He was so involved in the fight with the breaking of the clinches that I didn't notice him doing anything that would have favored Chisora since it was chaotic for the most part. Looking at it in hindsight though, yeah, it is odd that folks helped push Chisora back in the ring when he fell through the ropes and even that moment someone from his corner jumped into the ring. That should have been a DQ or at least toss that dude out. Nobody would have wanted the fight to end like that.
