Moses Itauma's fifth-round stoppage of Jermaine Franklin was a great learning experience, both for Itauma and for us all, writes Elliot Worsell.

There is no upside to fighting him. It's only a matter of time before Usyk either retires or gets stripped. I think a lot of guys are just positioning themselves for that scenario.

Actually, there are only 2 things we learned: 1) The heavyweight division is getting thinner and thinner, and people are looking for a new god, so with the right promotion, we will get one. 2) Franklin is not the Franklin of yesterday. And as high as the confidence seems to ride in the Itauma camp, they are still very cautious. They'll fight Usyk, because even if he loses, no one wish dish him for it. But they are aiming for Gassiev instead... because one is never too careful.

This was not a big occasion, Jermaine Franklin is not a winning fighter and is miles outside of is peak, this fight does not prepare Moses Itauma for a World title fight.

Note: Jermaine Franklin with plenty of notice for his fight vs. Itauma 'still weighed in at 257 pounds, which is 23 pounds heavier than when he fought Anthony Joshua'.

And let's be honest? Apart from the knockdowns which Moses Itauma scored, I would say that Jermaine Franklin was surviving but being beaten 'very similar to how Anthony Joshua was beating him quite easily'.

Moses Itauma is very fortunate that this heavyweight boxing era, is in the conclusive stages 'the only fighters knocking about are, fighters that were not good enough to be serious factors during the heavyweight reigns of Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder'.

But it is very clear that, the boxing community have decided and chosen Moses Itauma 'as their fighter, they want to be Heavyweight Champion'.

To conclude: Now Moses Itauma most likely at the very least will fight for a World title 'and he may even win. But do I see a dominant long reigning Champion? There is no evidence of this yet, as for whatever reason his team and Frank Warren are refusing to match him in a real fight'.

A real high jeopardy fight, where the likely-hood of him winning is not super high 'the plan is working to create an image, but? Being a boxing Champion is more than just imagine'.

I am still very dubious of how his team and Frank Warren are managing his career etc.

Imagine being AJ or Fury. Itauma's existence means they just got sent down to the British minors. They know another title aint gonna ever happen now, but worse nobody cares much about them anymore. AJ should fight Fury right now (after Mak) and both retire. Usyk can't help him. Eddys sweating.

Itauma looks very good. Yes, this has been against C list opposition and things will get harder as he steps up the level of opposition. Obviously. But he has so many tools and is still very young for a HW. I'm a supporter. Let him entertain us and, provided Frank does steadily improve the level of opposition, I'm happy to enjoy the journey rather than worrying too much right now about how high the ceiling might be.

We learned a lot about Itauma. He is going to be a great one. It's clear to the eye but also by the response of the top hwts - Usyk Fury AJ Kabayel have all made it clear they will not fight him any time soon. Everybody is running away from Itauma. And that is all you need to know.

We will learn something when he fights somebody that will actually come to win.

Zhang and Hrgovic were highly criticized when they fought each other. Itauma was not in that level fight yet.
