Yes, Rudy, he was very good. The article doesn't have all the information. Darkie Smith climbed into the ring at that time because Mickey Vann had ignored him and his son in the changing room. Darkie was trying to tell Vann to watch out out for Ricky Hatton headbutting and throwing elbows. Instead of listening, Vann apparently shuffled his feet as though he was auditioning for Strictly Come Dancing and said "look, I've still got it". Then Ricky threw his trademarked illegal blows, without an ounce of warning from Vann. No wonder Darkie was ready to turn into the Incredible Hulk.
