Why Roach Thinks Cotto Will Go Down...

Why Roach thinks Cotto will go down in 1; Pac's left cross will retire Cotto

October 21, 6:15 PMIndianapolis Fight Sports ExaminerDennis "dSource" Guillermo

I'll keep this article short and sweet and attach video evidence to reinforce it. Yes I said it, Pacquiao's left cross will retire Miguel Cotto and it doesn't even take a psychic to guess it.

Unless Cotto switches his game up and turns into a strict counter-puncher overnight, he is simply too slow, too susceptible and too vulnerable to eat Pacquiao's "See you at the Karaoke party" punch- the same punch that laid Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Ricky Hatton, Erik Morales and many others on their backs. If anything, Cotto's big head and big chin only works against him.

I don't know about you, and I can follow this up with a more detailed and elaborate piece for those who need it, but if I was a betting man, which I am, I got my money or Manny by knock out as long as he unleashes that devastating left cross and it connects. And what are the chances of that not happening? Think of a left-handed Hellboy. When this devil of a puncher lands his left, its going to hurt like Hell, boy.

Check out his fight against Zab Judah below. In the first round, Judah rocked Cotto with a counter left hook at the 1:42 mark of the first. Cotto looked in trouble and after receiving a few good hits, tags Judah with a low blow. I can't read Freddie Roach's mind, but this is precisely the video he was referring to with his recent statements of Cotto being a dirty fighter and the possibility of Pacquiao knocking Cotto out in the first. Pacquiao is much quicker and hits a lot stronger than Cotto. And if you still can't keep up with what I'm trying to say, then imagine yourself as Cotto right now against Pacquiao... Too slow.

Let's see how Manny's little head handles a left hook to the jaw from Cotto. God knows soft hitting Marquez rocked little Manny's world with one and Marquez' is not a bigger puncher than Cotto.

I'm guessing Roach's opinion is based on Manny's recent performances in training. Can't blame him. Manny looks strong and fast.

It's also possible Fredie could be underestimating Cotto a bit much.

Cotto's never been knocked out cold. Though I'm not sure that the weight might make a difference.

It's still tough to pick a real winner since both fighters bring up question marks.

We'll have to wait and see. So far, Freddie's been 2 for 2 in win predictions.

          Three could be a charm.

Seriously can't pretty much anybody write for the Examiner? It's like Bleacher Report except slightly less fake.

Cotto was stunned most definetly but he maintained his composure and got back into it. The low blow that the author is talking about happened 30 seconds after Cotto was countered and at a time when neither boxer was doing much. They were leaning against each other in the middle of the ring and Cotto had his legs at the time. Plus, please look wqho it was against. Judah is a drama queen and he took longer to recover from that low blow than the one that happened later on which was like 10 times worse. Either way the author clearly missed the Mosely match when Coto was never rocked, missed the Margarito match when uppercuts were landing at will seemingly and Cotto wasn't rocked, and he obviously didn't see the Clottey fight when straight rights were landing one Cotto serveral times in the second half of the fight and he wasn't rocked. Too much emphasis was put on the Judah fight over Cotto being a 'dirty' fighter and thats complete BS. Cotto didn't resort to dirty tactics against Mosely or Margarito who clearly had him in worse condition, and he won't need to against Pacquiao.

If Cotto can't handle Manny's power then the fight is as good as done. The 1st round will speak volumes.

Cotto will get tagged 2 or 3 times as much as Pac so it's more important for Cotto to handle Pac's power than Manny to handle Cotto's power.
