If true, think it be pretty good fight to set up a homecoming in the 2-3 months. Both are professional boxers originating in Texas, Mexico vs Puerto Rico backgrounds. Vargas is a solid tested fighter coming in a tear until a recent draw. With Daigo Higa in a competitive bout where Higa started quite strong then despite Antonio being the champion, he was the underdog turned the ties. Arguably the most vulnerable world champion in the Bantamweight division though he hits hard and skilled.
Bam Rodriguez vs Antonio Vargas rumored

Fights twice a year, but at least confronts top 5 quality opposition. And still more than once a year or skipping it like Ryan, Gervonta, Teo and Devin.
Rather see him confront Kazuto Ioka vs Takuma Inoue winner rather than aim for undisputed at Super Flyweight that got complicated due to the Moloneys.
Guess we see how it pans out if Bam wins this bout.Last edited by Malvado; 03-12-2026, 08:50 PM.Comment

Vargas is on the weaker side. Bam will KO this guy.
IMO Takuma beats Ioka. Ioka is too past his prime.
Nishida, Medina, Takuma are good fights for Bam. Nishida being the best.
But will most likely fight Takuma for the potential Monster showdown.
