Comments Thread For: Editor?s Letter: Can Zuffa really take over boxing?

The battle lines have been drawn, and Dana White?s Zuffa Boxing is ready to take on anyone in its quest to rule the sport. But this battle is far from over.

Remember when PBC stole all of Oscar’s stars . PBC looked like the next big one . But they ain’t what they used to be . I hope Zuffa takes over because I’d love nothing more than to see the original weight division’s and one champion in each division being told to defend against the Guy just below him . Wouldn’t that be a fckn treat . Let us dream on

As you mentioned, I don't think the original eight divisions is going to be a thing and if anything is going to bring a bigger weight disparity among fighters let alone come fight night.
The introduction of other weight classes got introduced for a reason, fighters safety, yes it also does bring more champions, more revenue.
Anyways Zuffa is already awarding their first "trophy" belt (as it cannot be sanction under current legislation) and it's NOT one of their original 8 weight classes.

The "let us dream on" that you are aluding to has been proven to be just that, a dream

Probably at this point. Even though I don’t like Dana or Turki, they can’t possibly make the sport worse than it is. Besides moving all the fights to SA, of course.

No because top fighters won't fight for peanuts like UFC fighters do, at least Turkey was making good fights and over paying guys and good for them.

Who really cares? Whoever puts up the best fights is the one I'll support. As far as I know, the UFC is putting the best matchups in MMA these days. If White could the same for boxing, I'll watch it.

These days, any fight with Bam Rodriguez, I'm good.

The “top fighters” don’t fight for peanuts. They are millionaires as is their boxing contemporaries. Then again ask Floyd what those millions mean to him.

Dana has beat other promoters, sanctioning bodies (recognize belts), networks.

Frank Warren already sue TKO and Sela.
Eddie Hearns already advinsg UFC Heavyweight to get paid more.
