Comments Thread For: Sebastian Fundora: Injury that postponed Thurman fight was a blessing

Sebastian Fundora is neither worried about his prior hand injury nor Keith Thurman's barrage of trash talk ahead of their March 28 WBC title fight.

"..Beating this former world champion will make a big statement" No it won't.

It's gonna be Keith's BIG statement because Thurman is gonna be THE NEW!

Honestly, it's a solid win for Fundora if he beats Keith because regardless of Keith being inactive for awhile despite his recent Jarvis win, Keith is always fundamentally sound. This is a high risk, low reward fight for Fundora because he won't get much credit if he beats Keith while Keith will get back into the mix and perhaps prove how weak Fundora is as a champion if he wins instead.

I'm giving more respect to Fundora for facing the former champ and risking it regardless of Keith's inactivity.

Agree with this. This is nothing more than a stay busy fight that Fondura should win without much trouble.

I think it’s a wait and see. It’s all about how he beats him not if he beats him. If he smashes him to pieces inside a few rounds it’s a good win, makes a statement. If it goes long maybe not as can’t see thurman being competitive in the latter rounds due to his age and inactivity. Let’s see how easy he makes it look. Fundora is getting better all the time.

Fundora gets another soft touch. Wack fight, and PPV? No thanks.

Hoping Keef pulls this out somehow, although I highly doubt it

I guess my mind tells me I should go with the younger, way bigger fighter who seemingly has improved since his loss - but then, the first fight with Tyszu was tit-for-tat until the cut....and what the hell should I have from the Chordale Booker fight? That fight was completely useless.

Those are the two opponents Fundora has faced since being flatlined KO'ed. Punch bagTszyu and Chordale Booker.

Keith Thurman, even at this stage, should be able to be at the Tyszu prior to cut /Acosta level, or better.

Physically, I think Thurman from the Jarvis fight looked well acclimated to 154 despite the lack of fights- I have no way to prove that yet, but I just think he looks stronger in his upper body, back, forearms, etc. It just appears to me that he has been through a focused process with his body, and there has been a plan for this comeback.

Not sure if delaying further a semi retired fighter, while getting him any further credit, unlike Thurman who if wins, will. Fundora ain't Barrios though
