    Kelly Pavlik's Staph Infection(Picture + Date)

A lot of posters are making a lot of claims regarding Kelly Pavlik. He's an alcoholic, ducking, skipping appointments etc.. Everyone has a right to his opinion and I completely respect that. IMO Pavlik should not have taken the fight with his hand in the condition it was in. Not because he wasn't advised it would heal in time but because in the event he didn't heal in time, he'd be in a position to face the ire of the entire boxing world. Some reasons I believe he took the fight are 1.) His Doctor advised the staph infection would be healed in time to train. 2.) Pavlik wanted to secure his HBO date and 3.) He wanted to silence his critics. The notion that Pavlik is running around town drunk and skipping Doctor's appointments due to disinterest is false IMO. If anyone has links proving he has skipped a Doctor's appointment since rescheduling the fight, please post it here. I do however understand any fans tired of waiting.

The picture linked below was taken on 09/28/2009, that's about 3 weeks ago(a fairly brief amount of time.) I definitely do not think Team Pavlik is without fault, it's a shame to watch his promising career put on hold for what should be a relatively brief injury. Out of Curiosity: What should Pavlik have done considering his situation(critics, inactivity, TV-date, money etc.) and the information he had at the time? Please discuss.

If he was not cured, he should not re-schedule.

Itīs unprofessional. We are not talking about healing, we are talking about an uncontrolled infection.

Heīs not scared, but heīs VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

How the **** do some ppl get staph infections anyways?

Being extremely dirty? I mean I jog every single day probably around 7-8 miles if not more and I come home and the first thing I do is not take a shower but just rinse my face off because I lift weights later then I hit the showers.

I mean I constantly swet, probably more then anyone on the entire planet but I don't get the staph infection...

Having a weakened immune system... like transplant patients, and people with AIDS. Or too much stress, too many antibiotics. Who knows.

Pavlik and his team do not seem to have MD knowledge. They pay someone a lot of money to do that for them. This high priced doctor tells Team Pavlik they will be ready to fight, what do you think they do?
Do you think Kelly Pavlik can look at his hand and says.. "I'd give that infection a couple weeks tops. What do you think Jack?" Jack Leow then says "2 weeks and you're good, btw tripple that jab baby, and touch his nuts!" ???
No, he was told by a professional what to think and that's how he decided what to do.

When you deal with professionals, you donīt leave your common sense at the door. No doctor can ever tell you with SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE how long it will take for an infection to resolve. He can give you the accepted course of antibiotics, and how long it should - key word s h o u l d - take to resolve. Too many variables to make a bold statement regarding a contract worth millions, specially when you are working with bacterial infection that could very well be resistant to antibiotics.

The doctorīs diploma canīt do **** about living organisms that mutate, for example.

People that deal with professionals - leaving common sense at home - is what makes people like Bernie Maddoff succeed in this world.

                  Pav-licks did.
